The Outer Darkness is in open testing on Google Play

Anyone on Android can now join the open test of The Outer Darkness on Google Play and start boarding dead ships before launch.

The Outer Darkness is now in open testing on Google Play. You don’t have to wait for launch any more: anyone on Android can join the test and start boarding derelicts today.

How to join

Open The Outer Darkness on Google Play and join the test from the store listing. Or go straight to the testing page, tap Become a tester, and then install the game from Google Play like any other. You can leave the test from the same page at any time.

What a test means

This build is still being worked on. Expect rough edges: balance that isn’t final, the odd bug, and changes from one update to the next. That’s why the test is open. Every run you play shows what works and what doesn’t before launch.

Tell me what you find

If something breaks, feels unfair, or just doesn’t make sense, write to [email protected]. Testers can also send private feedback from the game’s Google Play page.

On iPhone

The test is on Android only. On iPhone and iPad, The Outer Darkness is open for pre-order on the App Store, and it downloads on its own on launch day.

What you’re boarding

Dead ships drift back out of the dark with their holds full and their crews still aboard. Pick a derelict on your scanner, board it, aim each shot at a body part, and reach the escape shuttle with whatever you can carry. Die, and everything you brought stays aboard.

The first post walks through a boarding step by step, and the game page has the screenshots.
