Dance CATharsis, Jarlife and The Tower each have a Halloween event on now, with a new cat, event-only creatures and a candlelit Wake.

Halloween is on in three games at once. Each one has its own event on Google Play, and each one ends in early November or sooner, so here’s what’s in them.

Dance CATharsis: Halloween Week

Halloween Week runs until November 1. Pumpkins, bats and spooky lights fill the village at night.

Pumpkin, the witch cat. An epic cat waits at the edge of town. Win a dance-off and she joins your band.

Midnight Hayride. A new song you can only play during Halloween, with a creaky organ and a ghostly theremin.

Synthwave cats earn up to ×2 Fame, and ghosts order a Haunted hayride gig.

Every day, a new gig challenge, and a 7-day tour with a rare cat at the end.

See the event on Google Play · Dance CATharsis

Jarlife: pumpkin creatures

From October 24 to November 2, the jar turns spooky: an orange and purple sky, a full moon, jack-o’-lanterns and falling leaves.

Pumpkin creatures. Half of the mutations you roll become pumpkin creatures, a new event-only mutation for every species.

A friendly ghost floats through the jar instead of the golden butterfly. Its video brings a guaranteed pumpkin creature.

They stay. Every pumpkin you catch stays in your codex forever, after the event is over.

The Tower: the Wake

The Wake is lit: candlelit floors, and foes that have risen again.

Grave Wax. Clear Wake floors to gather it, and spend it at the candle-keeper’s stall in any Haven: vigil candles, soul cakes, grave salt and the Wickbearer title.

The Ninth Candle. The first gate you clear during the Wake gives you this rare trinket, and it teaches Snuff.

Nothing wasted. Any wax you haven’t spent turns into gold when the Wake ends.

The Wake ends in under a week.

A new sci-fi roguelike about boarding dead ships. Pre-register on Google Play, or find it on the App Store.

Each game now has its own page on the site, and this blog is where I’ll write about them as they’re made: releases, updates, and how things work inside.

The latest news is The Outer Darkness. It’s open for pre-registration on Google Play, and it’s on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.

Dock. Loot. Get out.

Dead ships drift back out of the dark with their holds full and their crews still aboard. You pick a derelict on your scanner, board it, and work your way deck by deck to the escape shuttle.

Everything you carry out is yours. Everything you brought in stays aboard if you die. Every room deeper is a better haul and a worse chance of getting back.

How a boarding goes

Scan. Derelicts in range show up on a green radar, each with its size, threat and conditions. Low oxygen, darkness and infestations change the rules from one ship to the next.

Board. Every ship is a new seeded map of fights, loot, supplies and event rooms. Some rooms just have a voice on the comms asking to be let in.

Fight. Combat is turn-based, and you aim each shot at a body part. Blind a Stalker, cripple a Crawler’s legs, crack a Warden’s shell.

Get out. Reach the shuttle, sell the salvage, upgrade your ship, and go back out.

A boarding takes 5 to 15 minutes, it’s played one-handed in portrait, and a run saves when you stop. There’s no pay-to-win.

Pre-register

If you pre-register on Google Play, you’ll get the game the day it launches. Everything else is on the game page.

The Tower: how far can you climb?

An endless tower with a fight on every floor, three doors after each one, and gold that piles up while you're away. Out now on Google Play.

The Tower: Endless Idle RPG is about one question: how far can you climb? It’s out now on Google Play.

It was already standing when you came through the door.

A fight on every floor

Each floor is a fight. Combat is turn-based: spend energy, watch your cooldowns, and interrupt the big hit before it lands. Choose your character, learn new skills and upgrade your equipment as you go. There are gate bosses and weekly raids, too.

Three doors

After every fight, three doors open. Each one has its own effect, and the safe door pays less. The climb runs through five biomes, from the Ashlands to the Obsidian Gate.

Climbs while you’re away

Gold piles up for hours with the game closed, and materials arrive on their own. Come back, claim it, and keep climbing.

Falling, and climbing again

Your fall is your end. Start again from the first floor, and the marks you’ve earned buy ranks in Edge, Vigour and Hoard that make the next climb go further.

Nothing to buy

No account, no premium currency, no energy timers, and no way to pay your way past a fight.

The Tower is free on Google Play. More screenshots are on the game page.

Jarlife: a terrarium that grows while you're away

Merge spores, seeds and eggs into 120 creatures, and come back to see what the jar did without you. Out now on Google Play.

Jarlife: Merge Terrarium is a merge game set inside a glass jar. It’s out now on Google Play.

Merge to evolve

Fungus, seeds and eggs go into the jar. Drag two alike together and they merge into something new: a spore becomes moss, a microbe grows into a tiny dragon.

There are 120 creatures across Flora, Fauna and Fungi. Some come out golden, glowing, shadow or albino, and those mutations are worth hunting for.

The jar keeps time

Seasons change, and day gives way to night. When a season ends, it pays out Seeds and lasting boosts, and the next one starts: Long Night, Monsoon, Bloom…

The jar keeps making Life while the game is closed, so there’s always something new when you come back.

The codex and the upgrades

A codex records everything that has grown in your jar, tier by tier. Upgrades change the jar itself: faster spawning, a bigger pouch, better seeds, a wider jar, a longer nap, and unstable DNA. Modifiers bend the rules from one run to the next.

Jarlife is free on Google Play, with no sign-up. More screenshots are on the game page.

Dance CATharsis: a cat band that hears every miss

A rhythm game where each cat plays one instrument in one lane, and a missed note mutes that cat. Out now on Google Play.

Dance CATharsis is a rhythm game about a cat band playing gigs for a cozy pixel village. It’s out now on Google Play.

Four cats, four lanes

Every cat in the band is one instrument and one lane: drums, bass, keys and lead. Paw notes fall toward the rings, and you tap them in time.

Miss a note, and that cat goes quiet until you hit again. You don’t just see a mistake on a score counter. You hear the bass drop out of the song, and you hear it come back.

Every cat brings its own groove, so a new cat in the band means a new part in the song.

Strays and dance-offs

Strays wander in to the edge of town. To bring one into the band, you win it over in a dance-off: the stray dances to its own loop, and you tap along.

The village

Between gigs, the band goes home. Resting cats busk for tips, and requests and upgrades grow the village around the stage.

Clips

You can record a vertical clip of a gig or of a cat’s dance and share it.
