The Outer Darkness is open for pre-order on the App Store

The sci-fi roguelike about boarding dead ships is open for pre-order on iPhone and iPad. Tap Pre-Order, and it downloads the day it launches.

The Outer Darkness is now open for pre-order on the App Store, for iPhone and iPad. With pre-registration already open on Google Play, both stores are ready for launch day.

How a pre-order works

Open The Outer Darkness on the App Store and tap Pre-Order. The game is free, so there’s nothing to pay. On launch day it downloads to your iPhone or iPad on its own.

On Android, the same thing is pre-registration on Google Play.

What you’re signing up for

Dead ships drift back out of the dark with their holds full and their crews still aboard. Pick a derelict on your scanner, board it, aim each shot at a body part, and reach the escape shuttle with whatever you can carry. Die, and everything you brought stays aboard.

A boarding takes 5 to 15 minutes, it’s played one-handed in portrait, and a run saves when you stop. There’s no pay-to-win.

The first post walks through a boarding step by step, and the game page has the screenshots.
